Any "Release Candidate" should basically be ready to go and just offering a final once-over to check things out. But there are over 150 "issues" just for this release candidate. (Scattered all over the place.) So, what are we supposed to do as developers and freelancers with our client sites?
The release date has already slipped twice and according to the original timeline, if we slipped past two release options, the new release date would be January 22nd. (hopefully, enough time to fix all the issues.) But the core devs are being extremely cagey and vague in wanting to "announce a release date soon". So, we need to be prepared.
